The MQ8 Methane Gas Sensor is a high-sensitivity detection module designed for monitoring methane and other hydrogen-containing gases. Using a tin oxide (SnO2) semiconductor, this sensor's conductivity increases in the presence of combustible gases, which can then be converted into an output signal. This versatile sensor is ideal for both home and industrial hydrogen leak detection applications. It offers reliable performance with a simple circuit and provides both digital and analogue outputs for easy integration into various systems. The MQ8 sensor is particularly effective for detecting methane and city gas and is resistant to interference from ethanol vapor, soot, and carbon monoxide.
Why Choose the MQ8 Methane Gas Sensor?
Designed for both home and industrial use, the MQ8 Methane Gas Sensor features high sensitivity and rapid response characteristics, ensuring it can detect even low levels of methane and other hydrogen-containing gases. With its dual-panel design, it offers a TTL (digital) output for easy integration with microcontrollers or relay modules and an analogue output for more detailed measurements. Its compact form factor includes screw holes for easy mounting, making installation quick and straightforward. Additionally, this sensor has a long lifespan and stable performance, making it a reliable choice for various gas detection needs.
Key Features

Easy to Interface: The DO output can be connected directly to microcontrollers or relay modules. Stable and Reliable: Offers long life and dependable stability in varied environments. Fast Response and Recovery: Quick response times and rapid recovery from gas exposure. Simple Circuit Design: Requires minimal components for easy setup and use. Low Interference: Resistant to interference from ethanol vapor, soot, and carbon monoxide. Mounting Holes: Four screw holes for easy positioning and secure installation.
Technical Specifications
Power Supply: DC 5V Current Consumption: 150mA Output Types: TTL digital (DO) and analogue (AO) DO Output Voltage: 0.1V to 5V (TTL digital 0 and 1) AO Output Voltage: 0.1V to 4V (relative to gas concentration) Response Time: Rapid response and recovery characteristics Warm-Up Time: 20 seconds for stabilization after powering on Mounting: Four screw holes for easy positioning
Note: After powering on the sensor, allow it to warm up for approximately 20 seconds to stabilize the readings. The heat generated by the sensor during this period is normal, as the internal heating wire is functioning. If the sensor does not heat up, it may indicate a malfunction.
